Hiring Manager – Contract, PT

We are a nonprofit organization that helps small and mid-sized nonprofit organizations handle the day-to-day work that keeps their programs running. Our team provides services such as bookkeeping, hiring support, administrative assistance, training, and operational guidance so nonprofit leaders can spend more time serving their communities. We use a collaborative approach to help our clients strengthen their impact and further their missions, often acting as an extension of their team. We want our staff to feel responsible not only for the job they are hired to do but for the success of the nonprofit partners we serve.

We are seeking a Hiring Manager to lead recruiting and hiring efforts for both our clients and our own organization. In this role, you will help organizations find and hire great employees by writing job descriptions, posting jobs, reviewing applications, coordinating interviews, checking references, and communicating with candidates throughout the process. This is a hands-on recruiting role for someone who is comfortable managing several open positions at the same time and working independently in a remote environment. Because our clients depend on us to keep important business functions running smoothly, we look for employees who are self-starters, dependable, thoughtful, and committed to helping our clients succeed.

Responsibilities

Client hiring engagements:

  • Support needs assessments for open positions and translate client requirements into accurate, compelling job descriptions
  • Find qualified people for open positions and advertise jobs in the places where potential candidates are likely to see them
  • Screen applications against structured rubrics and manage candidates through every stage of the hiring process
  • Coordinate selection, interview rounds, and reference checks with client stakeholders
  • Manage candidate communication from application through placement

Internal hiring:

  • Run end-to-end pipelines for internal staff and contractor roles, including fiscally sponsored project staff
  • Maintain consistency between internal hiring practices and the hiring procedures we deliver to clients

Hiring systems and operations:

  • Build and maintain application forms, screening rubrics, and interview guides
  • Operate and improve hiring automation, including applicant tracking and automated candidate communication
  • Track hiring metrics and report on search progress and outcomes

Requirements

Must have:

  • Hands-on recruiting experience owning searches end to end: searching for candidates, screening and intake, interview coordination, and candidate communication
  • Demonstrated ability to run multiple pipelines at once without dropping details
  • Strong written communication for candidate-facing and client-facing correspondence
  • Comfort working independently in a remote, small-team environment
  • Access to a working laptop with good internet

Nice to have:

  • Experience recruiting for nonprofits or small organizations
  • Experience with structured hiring methodologies (working interviews, rubric-based screening)
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace automation or applicant tracking tools
  • Must be friendly, patient and have a good command of the English language.

Values in Action

  • We do what we say we’ll do, on time, every time. Our clients’ missions run on it.
  • We figure it out. Lean budgets and small teams are our starting point, not our excuse.
  • Our actions match our words. We’re honest even when it’s uncomfortable, and we hold the same standard whether anyone is watching or not.
  • We treat every client, teammate, and partner as the expert in their own work.
  • We’re straightforward and genuine. What you see is what you get, with clients and with each other.

Benefits

We don’t currently offer health benefits. All candidates will start out as contractors with the option of moving to a W-2 after 60 days. This role is built to grow, and for the right candidate, it can expand over time into broader ownership of the hiring services function, including client relationships, HR consulting delivery, and our internal HR.
