Senior Consultant, Real Property Tax-HYBRID POSITION

A dynamic CPA and consulting firm, committed to a culture of excellence, offering accounting & finance, audit, income tax, MSP, risk advisory, SALT, cybersecurity, HR and other services, is seeking to add a Full-time Senior Consultant, Real Property Tax (RPT) to its State and Local Tax (SALT) Practice. Our firm is headquartered in Owings Mills, Maryland and while this new hire may often work remotely, s/he will be required to commute to our corporate office and travel to client/prospect meetings, conferences, etc., as dictated by business need.


This Senior Consultant will lead or co-lead multiple engagement teams and clients in relation to the completion of various real property tax consulting and compliance projects.  This SME will provide timely, high quality service that meets or exceeds client expectations.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing real property tax assessments for reduction opportunities, attending hearings on behalf of clients, and tracking related follow-ups with the appropriate jurisdictions.
  • Reviewing and analyzing clients’ real estate tax assessments for reduction opportunities
  • Clearly communicating real property tax review procedures to engagement teams
  • Training and assisting Staff Consultants as well as Interns
  • Communicating with clients to drive expectations and report on the status of ongoing projects
  • Identifying and communicating real property tax, as well as state & local tax, matters to a SALT leader
  • Subscribing to and actively reading industry publications, then sharing relevant information as applicable
  • Providing exceptional service to clients, always serving as a positive brand ambassador for Firm
  • Maintaining a network of industry contacts and establishing new long-term relationships


  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, or another relevant field
  • Minimum two (2) years of current or recent real property tax consulting experience
  • Understanding of real property tax rules and regulations impacting companies
  • Experience leading or co-leading real property tax projects
  • Strong communication skills with experience conveying complex SALT-related information and associated business impacts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience interacting with clients, establishing credibility, trust and healthy relationships
  • Unwavering integrity and ethics
  • Demonstrable examples of innovative thinking and problem solving
  • Willingness and ability to commute to our Owings Mills, MD office as well as travel to clients, prospects, conferences, etc., as dictated by business need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management experience including workflow balancing, activity scheduling, problem solving facilitation, prioritizing multiple complex tasks, and meeting deadlines
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring others
  • Effective public speaking skills with the ability to prepare and deliver presentations
  • CPA
  • CMI
