Senior Accountant-FT

A third generation, family-owned and operated distribution, and supply company, serving the mid-Atlantic region since 1946, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its team.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Knowledge of, and recent experience working with, Oracle NetSuite
  • Be fearless and relentless in supporting the AR and AP teams
  • Possess the instinctive ability to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and cost reductions across all finance-related areas and functions
  • Have the self-confidence to freely offer suggestions that could potentially result in greater accuracy, efficiency, and financial controls

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile all corporate bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis
  • Ensure the timely and accurate filing of monthly and quarterly sales tax returns
  • Update and maintain month end balance sheet schedules and other financial data
  • Maintain accurate books and records for the company’s subsidiaries
  • Assist with the preparation of GAAP financial statements
  • Support the Accounts Receivable team to ensure that payments are received when due and are posted to customer accounts on a daily basis
  • Support the Accounts Payable team to ensure that bills are entered in a timely manner, payments are made to vendors no later than the due date, and all discounts offered by vendors are taken

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of general accounting experience, preferably in a distribution environment
  • Four-year college degree in accounting (preferred, but not required)
  • CPA or candidate is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Proficiency with Oracle NetSuite and Microsoft Office 365 (Intermediate Excel or higher)
  • Experience working with a small, close-knit team
  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to perform efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • A high level of integrity and dependability, coupled with a strong sense of urgency
  • Diligent team player with a strong, traditional work ethic
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and to multi-task

Other Duties

  • Assist the CFO and the CEO with special projects and requests
  • Liaise with, work with, and support other departments as requested
