Mobile Crisis Team Program Director-HYBRID-FT

A private, non-profit organization with a proven track record of providing behavioral health crisis services to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, which provides timely and effective behavioral health crisis response services and treatment in the least restrictive environment, is seeking a Full-time Mobile Crisis Team Program Director. The primary goal of the position is to provide clinical and programmatic oversight to the Mobile Response Team (MRT) program. The individual in this position will also assist with the implementation of the regional expansion of MRT in surrounding counties and will be supervised by the Director of Clinical Operations. They will ensure the continuity of care for clients from call center referral to initial clinical assessment, disposition, and possible admission to the hospital emergency department, outpatient services or organization’s crisis residential and medical withdrawal management units. They will ensure the MRT responds quickly to individual, law enforcement, provider and hospital referrals and develop procedures and protocols for who will be dispatched on an MRT calls and how to respond to collateral contacts.


  • Coordinates with Call Center Director, Nursing Coordinator and Medical Director to ensure a quick response to mobile crisis referrals.
  • Provides leadership and direct supervision of mental health counselors, daytime and evening lead and mental health counselors, fulltime and per-diem mental health counselors. This includes being available on-call when needed, providing regular feedback/supervision related to performance improvement issues with staff, and performance evaluation input.
  • Maintains MRT compliance with all state regulations, GBRICS grant requirements and national accreditation standards for mobile crisis services and outpatient mental health.
  • Works closely with GBRICS staff to implement the expansion MRT regional teams.
  • Interfaces with law enforcement, hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics and other referral sources to address concerns related to organization’s MRT and share information and resources.
  • Maintains regular communication about clinical and administrative operations with the Director of Clinical Operations, Medical Director, and the Executive Director.
  • Ensures continuous development, monitoring and program improvement of operational procedures as needed to meet the needs of the community.
  • Monitors and tracks performance measures, service trends and makes recommendations regarding service improvements (submitting BHSB, and GBRICS reports in a timely manner to the (Director of Clinical Operations).
  • Participates in recruiting, hiring, and training of new staff.
  • Participates in community educational activities and public relation activities, such as critical incident de-briefings and community outreach to current and new referral sources, as needed.
  • Works with Billing Coordinator to assist with problem-solving authorization for service issues that arise, and interfaces with the ASO, Optum as needed.
  • Other duties as required by the management team.


  • Educational: Master’s degree in psychology, social work or related field from an accredited college or university.  Candidates must have appropriate State License LCSW-C or LCPC and have 5 years of experience post licensure.  Maryland Driver’s License is required.
  • Experience: Extensive experience working with behavioral health clients in acute crisis.  Four years of management experience in community mental health required.
  • Physical Demands:  Moderate walking, standing, climbing stairs, and sitting required. Moderate lifting up to 20Ibs.
  • Working Conditions:  Works generally in well-lighted and ventilated office environment with standard office supplies and/or equipment (desk, chairs, telephone, computers). Also, works in the Baltimore City community with the MRT, may be required to work flexible hours to achieve position objectives.
  • Hazards:  Potential exposure to highly charged stressful, and emotional situations; potential exposure to aggressive encounters.

Pay:  87-90K
