Medical Office Assistant

A podiatry practice is seeking a Medical Office Assistant.

(Medical training for role, if needed, will be provided.)

Responsibilities:

Efficiently manages daily patient flow with fluctuating patient volumes and demands. Prioritizes patient and provider tasks.

Obtains and documents patients’ reasons for visit, comprehensive health information, vital signs and medications.

Knows – or can be trained in – how to properly complete HMR charting, x-rays, orthotic casting, strappings, wound dressings, and procedures with and for the physician.

Prepares the instruments and supplies for patients’ scheduled procedures and assists with the preparation of the patient for said procedures.

Collects specimens as directed by provider.

Assists in ordering and maintaining all supplies for the patient care areas.

Properly handles, stores, and cleans instruments, equipment, and supplies per manufacturer guidelines.

Answers the telephone in an appropriate manner. Helps patients with questions, scheduling, directs calls and/or takes accurate messages.

Cleans and prepares patient rooms between visits.

All other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical mobility and agility.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers.
• Endurance (prolonged standing, movement between patient rooms, typing, unpacking and organizing medical equipment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
• 0–1-year related work experience required. 2-4 years related work experience preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English required.
• Ability to organize, perform multiple tasks in a timely manner, prioritize workflow required.
• Basic proficiency in computer use required.

Salary:   $18+/hr., salary commensurate with experience.
