Event Supervisor-Parking

One of the nation’s top 100 public universities, located north of Baltimore, is seeking a Full-time Event Supervisor in the Department of Parking Services. This is an if and when position that will provide event management support for Towson University Commencements, High School Graduations, and Special Olympics Summer Games, concerts, sports games, and other high profile events. This position will assist staff and event managers to provide excellent customer service while maintaining a safe environment in accordance with Parking and Transportation procedures and University policy. This position will play an active role in assisting Parking & Transportation at high profile and large events.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the event parking & event operations staff
  • Assist Event & Operations Managers with the planning & execution of events by supervising event staff, handling day of event operations including event shuttles when requested as an event service
  • Supervise event staff including TU staff and contractual event staff
  • Assist with event set-up and break-down as needed
  • Make decisions quickly and independently to adjust operations to unexpectant situations during onsite event management
  • Operate and update digital message board software
  • Provide instructions and direction to ensure events are executed based on established criteria
  • Work with assigned Event and/or Operations manager to suggest any changes that could improve customer service and event standards, as well as lower operational costs
  • Assist and direct event guests as needed
  • Handle difficult customers including those who become irate
  • Meet customer expectations within appropriate guidelines
  • Possess knowledge of Parking & Transportation policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and one year of prior experience in a manager/supervisor role giving instruction and delegating tasks/responsibilities
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Must be able to communicate a clear vision and foster strong working relationships
  • Possess proven skills at analyzing and solving complex business/operational problems and can offer recommendations to solve concerns
  • Must be able to maintain a positive, proactive approach in handling situational conflicts involving customers and event operations
  • Must be organized, able to prioritize job tasks, take initiative and is dedicated to meeting the expectations and event requirements
  • Applicant must possess a valid Maryland Non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent with no more than 5 points
  • Must be able to work on your feet for long periods of time in all types of weather, lift up to 50 pounds, and install and remove signage
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience

Pay: $19.00/hour

Schedule: Contract; At least 30 hours/week.
