Director of Security-HYBRID-FT

The community relations and advocacy arm of a large Jewish nonprofit is seeking a Director of Security who can manage people, situations, and challenges related to security and safety needs for the nonprofit, its agencies, and the broader local Jewish community.  This position will be responsible for creating and implementing procedures, plans, and policies for prevention, protection, communication, and mitigation strategies, while consulting with a variety of community institutions on their security needs. The ideal candidate will have the ability to build meaningful relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners and community institutions and must be accessible for emergencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with federal and state security grant applications, for both the Nonprofit/s system and community institutions.
  • Onsite security assessments of Jewish organizations/congregations/schools.
  • Responsible for threat assessments and monitoring overall local Jewish community and institutional security.
  • Recommend physical security controls and emergency response plans for all buildings in The Associated system.
  • Conduct and coordinate security trainings for Nonprofit’s system employees and community institutions.
  • Coordinate special protection arrangements for a wide variety of programs and events.
  • Design and conduct security/loss prevention and vulnerability surveys.
  • Coordinate and help lead the response to emergencies and incidents.
  • Maintain active communication systems for both emergency and non-emergency security situations.
  • Arrange and coordinate annual drills and role-playing exercises.
  • Create and conduct an annual review of the Emergency Operations Plan for the Nonprofit’s system’s different locations.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree Preferred.
  • 15 years plus of experience in law enforcement or security
  • Supervisory experience
  • Works well with colleagues and community members
  • Handle multiple tasks.
  • Provide leadership in crisis.
  • Experience training others.
  • Prior public speaking skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including use of Microsoft Office products.

Requirements:

  • Valid Maryland Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • License to carry a concealed weapon and be armed while working.

Pay: $100,000 to $110,000 annually. Salary commensurate with experience.
