A nonprofit organization providing free, one-on-one tutoring to low-income children and adults with dyslexia or other language-based learning disabilities in the greater Baltimore area is seeking to hire a Part-time Data Support Assistant to help maintain student/tutor records in both electronic and hard copy. We are small organization with a big impact on the lives of our students. We help them learn to read and give them hope … one word at a time. The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently, ensure accuracy, possess a keen eye for detail, have excellent communication skills and preferably experience with data entry and/or records management. Experience with FileMaker Pro a plus. This position interfaces with everyone in the organization, and reports to the Program Director and CEO.
Responsibilities:
- Enter data for current and prospective students/tutors in program across all stages of their relationship with DTP in both database and paper files
- Update both database and paper files with new information as it becomes available or according to schedule
- Correct and modify errors in database records as discovered, and conduct routine review of electronic records to ensure complete and accurate information
- Run basic reports on database upon request to provide monthly/weekly updates
- Comply with privacy and security protocols to ensure data is stored properly and confidentiality is protected
- Organize paper formats, paper backups, and material source files as needed
- Review paper files to identify those past required retention dates, and mark files for destruction
- Advise staff of any issues with database and suggest changes as appropriate to make data management as efficient, accurate and up to date as possible
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
- Previous experience in data entry or equivalent experience in a related field
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately enter data
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with FileMaker Pro a plus but not essential
- Experience with Constant Contact or other email marketing software a plus
