A large Jewish nonprofit which works to enhance Jewish life and addresses charitable, educational, religious, humanitarian, health, cultural and social service needs of the Jewish community locally, nationally, in Israel and throughout the world is seeking a Assistant Vice President of Finance to join its Finance Team. The Assistant Vice President will be overseeing operational accounting for 9 operating programs of the nonprofit and 4 agencies. This includes ensuring that processes align with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and that accurate internal and external financial records are maintained. Provides support to annual budget process, annual audits, and tax reporting and serves as a liaison between the nonprofit, Executive Directors and Boards of operating programs and supported agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of accountants to performing operational accounting functions.
- Assist the team in preparing timely and relevant financial reports on a regular basis, including preparing and reviewing different schedules and sub-ledgers.
- Responsible for comparison reports between actual revenue/expenses and budgeted categories.
- Review and prepare schedules, reports, and back-up materials for agency audits.
- Assist audit firm staff in preparing IRS 990 for agencies as needed, including preparation of supporting schedules and working with agency staff to complete all questions on the IRS 990.
- Assist in agency and program budget preparation; prepare reports as requested.
- Analyze and present financial reports to senior management, Board of Directors, and lay leadership.
Qualifications:
- Ten or more years of work-related experience and five plus years of supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; master’s degree preferred. CPA preferred but not required.
- Experience in Sage Intacct preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to prepare and analyze data.
- Must be able to work independently and be a team player.
- Exceptional oral communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Strong customer service skills.

Pay: Salary range is $105,000-$118,000 annually; salary commensurate with experience.
Schedule: Full-time; Hybrid
