Accounting Clerk III-PT

One of the nation’s top 100 public universities, located north of Baltimore, is seeking a Part-time Accounting Clerk III to join its team. Under general supervision, the Accounting Clerk III will perform complex accounting clerical tasks involved in the billing process for all off campus, closed contract programs totaling 1200+ students. This includes working with a variety of staff and personnel in other offices as well as outside partnership agencies to verify accuracy of data prior to processing and billing students and partnership agencies. This is a part-time 20 hour per week contractual position.


  • Adheres to all invoicing policies and procedures within the appropriate timeframes to perform complex clerical accounting.
  • Billing tasks include creating and managing invoices each semester for all Closed Contract programs, working collaboratively with  Staff, Department Chairs, Program Directors, Instructors, and Administrative Assistants to ensure accuracy of billing for each program.
  • Reviews and processes all billing documents with attention to detail, ensuring accuracy of mathematical computations and completeness with all discrepancies resolved prior to the final billing.
  • Supports  partnership agencies through adherence to the contractual/MOU invoicing terms. This includes understanding the terms of the various MOU’s and contracts as well as utilizing student information from various sources to verify and reconcile grade rosters to accurately invoice partnership agencies.
  • Works with the Academic Program Specialists to monitor and analyze workbook information and student data to identify discrepancies related to students and partner agencies.
  • Provides customer service to students regarding financial account status, accuracy of billing based on partnership contractual agreements, and other questions as needed.
  • Coordinates and collects data to manage, reconcile, and audit the rate table on a regular basis.


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of accounting clerical experience
  • Excellent analytical, computational, and mathematical abilities
  • Proficiency in billing processes

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently


  • Experience in clerical, bookkeeping or billing processes
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to learn specialize software
  • Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience, and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Pay: $17.94/hour

Schedule: Part-time; 20 hours/week
